Cashew Milk

I haven't tried making any new non-dairy milks for a while.  Last week I decided to try to make some cashew milk.  A few recipes I saw said to soak raw cashews in water overnight and drain them before using to make cashew milk.  I will try this the next time I make some.  I think raw cashews would be best, but if those aren't available then unsalted cashews would be my next choice.

After checking out several recipes online here is what I came up with.  I actually didn't mind drinking this.  I have gotten so used to not drinking milk that I am not sure it is something I would do all of the time.  I did use it in some recipes and on some cereal with success.

This recipe contains tree nuts.  However, it is free of eggs, dairy, peanuts, wheat, and soy.

Cashew Milk

1 Cup Cashews
Water
1 Tbsp. Honey
1/8 tsp. Salt

Put cashews in a blender.  Add enough water to fill the blender to the 4 cup line.  Add the honey and salt and blend on high for at least 5 minutes.  Pour through a strainer or nut milk bag.  (See this post for what I use instead.)  Store cashew milk in a lidded container in the refrigerator.

I've seen this in the store before, but I didn't know that you could make it home made. I'll have to try this recipe.
